Granite Specifications

What is Granite?

Granite is a coarse-grained igneous natural stone that is formed out of magma with a high content of silica over millions of years and is mostly made up of quartz, alkali, feldspar and plagioclase. Granite is one of the hardest and most durable of the natural stone selection. It is almost impossible to scratch and is heat resistant. These properties is what made granite a widespread construction stone and it makes it today the most popular choice when it comes to kitchen worktops.

Why Choose Granite for your kitchen worktops?

When people choose Granite for the kitchen worktops it will be the last worktop they ever need as Granite is very very tough and durable. Granite is resistant to chipping, scratching, cracking and is also heat resistant. Granite also offers stunning beauty that other worktops can't match and as it is a natural stone out of the earth it's more than likely the pattern and colours in your granite worktop will be unique.

Cleaning your Granite Worktops?

Granite is easy to maintain as any spillages if wiped up straight away will vanish from sight and if you have them professionally sealed like we do here at Koolia the worktop is resistant to stains and bacteria. But generally a fast wipe of hot soapy water is all you need to get up any spillages as you would for any worktop material.

Granite Slab Size.

Granite slabs on average come 3000mm x 1900 but each colour does vary slightly. Granite always comes 30mm thick unless the customer states they want it 20mm thick but we recommend you have it 30mm thick so it stays stronger in the thinner parts of the worktops.
